The goal of this course is to train participants in public policy monitoring and evaluation. The course starts with an overview of the policy process and the actors that are involved in it. The course highlights the role of policy analysis from the beginning, covering a range of different strategies and approaches. Unique about this course is the strong focus on training applicable skills. Participants take part in skill sessions, learning how to write policy memos, to structure policy problems, to forecast and identify potential policy outcome and to identifiy preferred policies to be implemented. During excerises, participants practice to conduct data analysis, to evaluate methods quantitavely and qualitatively and to present policy analysis.

By partnering with the University of Maastricht, the German Pension Fund and AOK International Consulting, we are able to disseminate the knowledge of a range of experts. Participants can sign up for individual face-to-face and online courses, or complete our Certificate in Social Protection.

This course will take place at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health.
The course material will be covered in a mixture of lectures, seminars and group activities. Lectures will be held by both faculty of the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health and faculty of the Maastricht School of Governance. In addition, we are planning a visit to a relevant public health institution.
Assessment: In order to receive a certificate, participants take a short test at the end of the course and participate in a group activity.
